Overdrive woes 1989 240 DL 200

About six thousand miles ago I replaced the overdrive relay, switch, solenoid, and replaced/repaired any and all "iffy" wiring. In the last 500 miles the car, upon start-up will not stay in overdrive. Diagnosis has this only happening when the car is "cold". If I let it idle for about 5 minutes, shut it off, turn it on (start) it is fine .....but finnicky. I have no time to do this yet again and need a solution so that my car is in overdrive mode all the time. I was thinking it possible to bypass the relay or find a constant 12V to the solenoid to make it permanent. I just want a full-time 4 speed auto, no nonsense.
