Done that, love it. My headlining was missing and the sunroof broken when I bought my car. Went to a Volvo breaker and found a 960 with a black headlining and moonroof. Got it all out, paid 250 dollars for, and fitted it. That meant I also got the lit vanity mirror and electric motor which I did not have before. The work is simple, it is a direct fit. One tip and something I have just realised today infact after having rebuilt the sunroof on my other 740 with one from a 960. The sunroof/moonroofs are installed in factory following a simple method of adjustment. At the back of each side and at the front by the motor, there are four bolts in total mounted in brackets that are adjustable. What you do is, fix the bolts for the side brackets and then fix the front bracket to the sunroof. Then, you can adjust the sunroof to a perfect fit and then fit the bolts. Now, in facotry, the other bolts are self-tapping and thus make their own holes. If you fit a sunroof from a different car then you have holes and sunroof that do not match, so be aware of that. I have had to trim the outside sunroof seal as they get stuck otherwise. There is no "technical" reason why you need to replace anything but the sunroof if fitting a moonroof but you will have to be very lucky to find one with a matching interior cover and also, the 960 headlining is so much nicer than the 740 one and of so much better quality that they are worth the price. Both my 740's have 960 headlinings.
