B20 cam 140-160

We are trying to remove the cam from a B20 with an 8 bolt flywheel. It doesn't have the big nut/bolt holding the cam gear on, as it shows in the 'Hayes' manual. It is flat accross the face of the gear. My question is, what holds the thing on? and can I just pull it off with a '3 hook puller thingy'? My son Tom is enjoying the challenge and getting his hands dirty. Better his than mine. He is keeping the Volvo tradition alive by being the third generation in our family to own Volvos, 14 Volvos between us over the years. Any clues would be appreciated. Thanks, Matt.
