Who has a 960 whose lifters do not tick? What kind of oil? 900 1995

John, these are direct acting 'lifters', more like pushers, and sometimes they do take a while to pump up. I suspect, a replacement set would be in order. the only problem is that the top of the engine clamps the cams between the next section of the head. So the TB must be removed, the cams removed and the offending lifter/pusher replaced. That's too much of a PITA for me to even think about.

I chacked my spark plugs the other day and saw some junk down in there. I blew the holes out and removed the plugs, checked them and replaced them. When I started the car it really clattered and I don't know why. Weird.

BTW, the 740 is off to bigger and better things today.
