Hi John; Thanks for the concern, however I've never seen photos of any shields nor heard them mentioned in any service books when it comes to SU H4-carbs that fitted the B16B engines for early PV's and 121's. Maybe that's something that came later on with bigger & hotter engines? See photo below of a pal's engine of similar type.
