under car gas lines 245 83 200

I am redueing the gas lines after a pin hole spraying on the old gasline.the main run from second pump to the filter on the firewall and exposeded to road hazzords under the car

I used a normal type gasline $1.29 a ft they did not have hi-pressure line at the local cheapie store and [napa wants 5.80 a ft fot that!!!!] and I am concerned about it down there one idea is to buy a cheap copper flexable waterline sized to slip over to use as a nonstresed cover over the rubber/neroprene line or use a steel brake type tube but the steel is hard to shape to shape
