Alternative to rear hatch window defroster 200

Well, the wires through the hatch hinges went a while ago, and I just don't have the guts to go out with bare fingers in the -25 evenings to replace the culprits. ...but, the interior of the glass is getting more and more frosted. What to do? Get out the little 12v oscillating fan I bought for summertime driving, and wire it to the 'illegal' left rear fog lamp bayonet. Clamp the lamp to the rear seat belt post, directed at the glass. Voila, problem solved.
