Ball joint replacement when replacing strut inserts? 700 1988

if i were you id replace the ball joints while your doing the struts, in the future if they ever do start to go, you will have to compress the strut spring to get the ball joint out, ive found a pretty nifty way of getting the ball joints out to, if you remove the entire arm that the ball joint is held in on, which isnt to had the arm is held in by one long bolt and nut at the end you can take that arm rest it on a table with just the portion the ball join is on and hit with a rubber mallet, if you do it as so the mallet hs all the play, when you it the mallet should fly right back towards you, that kinda impact will replace the ball joint very easily, make sure though not to hit and hold or you take the chance of bending the arm, i just did mine last month. totall cost with Boge struts, ball joints and bushings was $300.00 from my local volvo parts house.
