When Ford Bought out Volvo..... 200

I've been very leary of the newer volvos ever since Ford bought out Volvo. I've owned a 77 242, 87 240 and a 89 740 and all are so similar in so many ways! Great cars, "Bricks", redicoulosly high mileage, and poor electrical systems. but I'm just curious if the newer Volvos are actually still 100% Volvo and still just as good? I happen to live in the motor city capitol and most of the cars you see are either GM Ford or Chrysler which in my opinion all suck the big one!
