It must have made a hell of a noise. Evidently the intermediate shaft turned for some time before being broken and the oil pump stopping. The oil galleys and lines to the oil cooler were completely full of engine coolant. The other B230FT cracked rods which I have seen fractured at the big end. This one looks like it let go in the middle first. Like I wrote in the original post, the hose to the wastegate was broken at the fitting on the turbo outlet. The interim owner had removed the intake manifold and hoses prior to my purchase, so I don't know if the hose to the boost overpressure switch was connected. I suspect it wasn't. The boost overpressure switch is a poor design because the hose connection to it is not fail safe. If the hose is disconnected, the engine continues to run, and there is no protection from operation at high boost.

To answer your question about the JB Weld, some of the blocking casting was evidenlty lost in the roadway, and no amount of JB weld will repair the block without the lost pieces.
