Turbo or Sensor problem? 700 1990

Check the FAQ on stalling and such under engine: performance. These seems to be a lot of problems like this for this era of volvo. I had similar problems with my car. Did the fuel pump relay and fuel pressure regulator. Not a change. Did RPM sensor and radio suppression relay. Nope. Fuel filter fixed it for a while, and it came back again. So far it looks like the problem was simply loose connections at the main fuel pump. When they did the filter, it probably moved the pump connections enough to make it go away for a while. Try unplugging and plugging back in all of your sensors. Also check for error codes in your OBD unit. I don't regret replacing the components I did, my only hope is that I prevented some other problems down the road.

Try the fuel pump relay first. They are cheap and easy to replace. Also, you can check your fuel pressure regulator by simply pulling the vacuum line off of it and smelling for gas. If you smell it, or get drips, you found the problem. It may be the same problem I had. Cleaning and tightening up the connections appears to have fixed it so far. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Good luck.
