I agree with Matt on all points... remember that the tire's contact patch is going to be the same size at any given tire pressure regardless of tire width. Larger tires require lower pressures for there to be any traction benefit. I run 27 psi in 195x15, which is what produces the best grip and the most even wear for my uses. Does take a little more muscle to parallel park the things, though.
