Volvo 240 GL slight annoying problem with braking

I have had this volvo for about a week now, so I dont really know if this came standard with the volvo or not. I do know though that the guy before rebuilt the engine, so maybe he could of messed up the wiring to where it would to this.

It didnt do it when first got the car, but about the 3rd day, it just crept up on me. When place my foot on the brake pedal, an alarm with an interval of about a sec comes on, and stops once my foot is released from the brake. At first I really didnt care because I would just blast my music, trying to dilute the noise, but it seems i cant keep doing this.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? And if so, why does it do it? I have looked through the owner's manual and searched google but to no avail.
