I just did this on 90 740, you've got to use a new amp designed for your unit. Unless it's got it's own internal amp. OEM amp for volvo (US) is under the left side knee bolster. Just next to the steering wheel. You've got to isolate each pair of speaker wires, and use supplied instructions from your head unit.
