Tire quandry 900 1993

hello all....took the 965 to Costco for new tires, and was about to buy the nicely priced Michelin X-radial, when the lad at the counter says that the X-radial will not work on the wagon, that it needs the MXV4 or the Pilot-X, about $50.00 more per unit. I am perplexed as to why the wagon cannot ride on the plain old X-radial; I can't imagine it is not properly speed rated. Is it a 'load' issue, or is the tire guy all wet????
