Painting chrome parts 200

Hello Fellow Bricksters

Last summer I decided that I didn't like the chrome trim on my 245 anymore. So I went down to the Canadian Tire and bought a couple of cans black trim paint. While made the plastic parts look really good, the paint has been gradually wearing and flaking off over the winter.

Apart from me experimenting with a few test strips on different application methods and gassing everyone in the house in the process, would anyone know how to paint over the chrome and actually make the paint stick? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks and happy bricking to all.
