89' 760 stereo - EQ-611 & CR-722 wiring question 700

My head unit is a CR-722 with an eq-611 attached to it. The previous owner had an aftermarket unit installed and I've re-installed the original unit. It all works fine however the EQ-611 stays on with the ignition - is this normal, or does it's power source actually come from the head unit itself, so that when the radio is turned off - eq-611 goes off? Also, what is the purpose of the yellow wire coming out of the CR-722?

Thanks in advance, Tim
