after fiddling around with this and that on my 85'244, i cleaned the PCV and the flame trap, trying to eleaviate the black smoke and rough idle, and it seems to cut it down a little, but no big change.
so with the problem remaining i remembered someone on this board mentioning the serial # on the AMM had to be 007, so i cheaked it out and low and behold, it's 002!i don't even know what model thats for bu tis the same size.
anyway unplugged the AMM and bang, prefect idle and no smoke, even got it into drive and it didn't stall.
so my questions are, can the car be driven at all without the AMM? does that do any damage to the engine or air intake system?
also is it reasonable for me to expect some kind of reimburisement or reworking from the mechanic who ordered and installed the wrong AMM?should also mention that it took 6 weeks to complete it.
I'm quite angry after discovering this, it's not the first time mechanics in this town have misdiagnosed problems with my car, year before this was a terrible shaking when i slowed down, and one guy said center bearing and the other said transmission mount, anyway a month and $200+ later the shake was still there, so i phoned up my friends brother who's a euro-import mechanic and he told me what it was over the phone! i wasn't so mad about replacing the parts, new parts can't hurt, but the month cost me a job, as i was unsure of the safety of my car. . . just seems they through all logic away because they see the volvo name and think it's a
sorry for the long and whiney post, just want some feed back as to if i'm being terribely unreasonable or not, maybe some more experienced folks could give me another perspective
thankx
