Need Quick and Dirty Idea What to Offer 700 1989

Greetings, Fellow Bricksters! I'm relatively new to the 700 forum, having been nesting in the 120 and 200 rooms for quite awile. It's getting time to think about replacing the 240, since the dreaded Cleveland 'tim worm' has really begun to take its toll, especially on the undercarriage. Passed by the local lot the other day and spied a pretty decent '89 760 Turbo wagon, 175K, not local, with very good body and likewise interior. The problems with the car, as described to me (aside from the Nivomat rear suspension-still riding high, for now) were small oil leaks in the engine and tranny, occasional problems with starter engagement when cold, rear tires needed (from hotrodding?), brakes 40-50% life left. Battery is about 4 months old, same for at least part of the exhaust. They're asking $3000....actually, $2995 according to the 'rule of nines and fives' which I have the suspicion is a tad too high. They've had the car for a while, so I'm sure they'll talk. Rather than embarrassing myself right off the bat, may I impose upon you 760 owners to give me an idea as to where this car should be priced? Or, if I should stay away from it altogether. This presumes, of course, that it passes the test drive...As always, thanks in advance.

Brad
