Fittings

As John said, the flare fittings are the best.
Another good bet if you are on a tight budget is to go to a farm supply, they usually carry hydralic hose with pipe fittings already on that will thread directly into most remote filter adapters and filter mounts.
They run betwen about $12-$23 ea
The only drawback to these is that they don't last as long as the Aeroquip hose and get very stiff after around 90-100,000 miles ( never had one leak , just replaced for safety).

The aeroquip stuff is expensive at the start, but the ends are reusable and the hose isn't too costy.
