87 245 oil leak--please 'check my math'

I think I've found the oil leak on my 245...Thought it might be the rear main seal so I dropped the flex plate cover between the bell housing and the tranny only to find no oil running down the face of the plate (the "flywheel" on an automatic). I took it to the car wash and when I got home saw the back three or four oilpan bolts "glistening" around the bolt heads. Some time ago, I had carefully tightened all the pan bolts I could reach to only about 11lbs or so. Oil does not seem to be apparent anywhere else. Can/should I try to tighten these bolts more (don't want to distort the pan gasket) or should I pull them and swab em with some pipe thread sealant and put them back in at the recommended light torque? Thanks for your comments in advance.
