Auto AT OD popping off and on? 700 1991

Hello all. I have a 740 GL (159,000+ miles) with an automatic transmission and the OD is becoming a little frisky. It pops off sometimes and comes back on when it feels like it. Randomly, it will be off when I start the car. It doesn't pop off while driving but it will pop back on when driving. No amount of mashing the OD button does anything when it has popped off. I haven't found a pattern yet but it is happening more frequently now. Ideas?
