My tappy new head 140-160

.018" cold? .016" hot? Those sound like B18 numbers not
B20 numbers. I've found a couple places that say .020 - .022
for the B20/B30 but none that say .018" but then I also
don't have the green book.

Anyone else run their B20/B30 with .016 - .018? I'd love
to make my car less tapatapatapa sounding but I also don't
want to burn up my brand new exhaust valves.

BTW I set the timing to 18 degrees advance (vacuum advance
attached idle at 900) and it doesn't seem to be pinging. I'm
going to fill it up with midgrade soon and do a compression
test and see how things are going.

Also, with the .020 valve settings the idle bog has somewhat
gone away. (longer springs with the same number of windings
are stiffer than shorter springs with the same number of windings
so that *will* make the car run richer at low RPMs, btw)
