Dangerous! My 940GL dies on the highway ... please help if you can. 900 1992

For the past 8 months, my 1992 940GL has been doing a bizarre and seemingly inexplicable thing.

I'll be driving at any speed, 65 MPH or 5 MPH, and suddenly the accellerator will cease to work. I hit the hazards and pull over. All the lights on the dashboard come on, and the power steering quits.

I turn off the vehicle and wait. I try the ignition and it won't start right away. I wait 30 seconds, then start up the car and drive away as if nothing had happened.

When this happens is completely unpredictable. It happens when the car is warm or cold. Today I made a 20-mile round trip and had to pull over twice.

I've asked two mechanics and they haven't been able to figure it out. Neither believes it's the fuel line or fuel filter. I've tried drygas but it doesn't help. I use 93 octane fuel but I can't tell if it makes a difference.

Thanks for any advice you can give!!

- Cameron
