would like to install AM/FM CD player on 6volt system 444-544 1961

Ola;

Close, but no cookie...those inverters are highly efficient, but 6 to 12V is just not a voltage conversion that's there is a lot of call for much at all...they're also not particularly inexpensive. If you got that outfit to make a custom one for you, you'll probably have to hang another zero onto the price.

Vince;

We went through this same thing a while ago. I suggest you check the archives. In the end, I think the fella went with an upgrade to 12V...wasn't that Bill Matuscak. The project is documented at: http://www.intelab.com/swem/Vintage_Volvo_6V_to12V_conversion.htm

If however you have your heart set on keeping the original 6V system, e-mail me off-line and maybe I can design up a suitable inverter (it maybe big and clumsy but you won't need scientific notation to write the price.

Cheers
