Rough idle, stall within minutes after starting 200 1989

My son's 89 240 (200,000 miles) starts and run ok for just a couple of minutes ( = about 4 blocks) then runs like crap. Rough idle, stall and wants to die when giving gas. Acts like vacuum line was pulled off. Checked for loose or bare (cracking insulation) on wiring under hood, all vacuum lines look good. Idle switch adjustment OK. In Ohio where cold when starting.

At a loss how to begin diagnosing. Any suggestion appreciated. Could it be idle control valve sticking or temperature sensor screwing up computer mixture? I did not check the distributor cap/rotor. I'll check that tomorrow.
