1988 760 Turbo - Stalls repeatedly whether hot or cold

Hi everyone!

I tried looking at the archived posts before attempting to ask for help with this particular problem. The Volvo in question runs fine otherwise but will suddenly cut out, recently almost a dozen times. It does not matter if it is idling or at speed, or if it is cold or up to operating temprature. When the problem does occur it is sudden and there is no spark. The pickup in the distributor is fine and I gather from what I have read on some previous posts that it could be an item called the 'power stage' located near the battery. Am I getting warm? Any help and insight on this persistent problem would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.
