Too much tranny fluid 700

Could too much transmission fluid cause a bad vibration at stoplights? My 87 740 has developed a real bad wheel shaking shudder when stopped in gear. I just checked my fluid level and it is about a quarter inch over the plastic measuring part of the tranny dipstick. I'm planning to drain out about two quarts before driving any more to keep from blowing the seals but I just wonder if all that stress on the torque converter could cause the shakes. Motor mounts look to be in okay shape.
