ACC - How should it work? 700 1986

Just wondering if my ACC was working correctly does this sound right?

I've got the system with the rotating temperature control on the left, and one settings slider:
| Off | Air Con | Slow Fan | Auto | Fast Fan | Feet & Face | Demist |

In Off, it's off, in Air Con I get cool air at full fan. In slow fan I get slow fan, in all other modes (Auto, Fast Fan, Feet & Face, and Demist) I get full fan always. The thermostatic sensors work fine, and the temperature is kept right, I just wondered if it's normal for the fan to be on full unless set to slow I'd expect it on demist and possibly feet & face, but thought it would change on auto - Any ideas?
