Not the timing belt.
As suggested, vacuum leak of any kind will do this, so also check the intake gaskets and fuel injector seals by spraying carb cleaner on them with the engine running. Increase in rpm = vacuum leak found.

The other very likely possibility is that the throttle body is dirty. Get yourself a gasket ($1) and a couple cans of Brakleen or Carb cleaner and take it off and clean everything. Not a heard job, usually just a little greasy but the access to things is good.
1 big hose clamp, 1 snap connector for throttle rod, 1 electrical plug for throttle switch (squeeze and pull) and 3 13mm nuts.
