what about SAE 5W40 on a 240? 200 1989

Hi

I have a question concerning the oil type I´m able to use on my 1989 240 wagon with a B230F non turbo engine.

Currently I´m running SAE 15W40 and I´m quite pleased with that choice. Now my uncle has some oil bottles filled with SAE 5W40 which he wants to give to me. Would this be ok to use or is this too synthetic?
Would there be any problems - especially during winter time - with running the 5W40 oil?

Thanks a lot for any input!

Lots of greetings

Ciao -- M.P.
