Redline MTL ? 200

Everyone on this site seem to recommend Redline MTL for M46 or M47

My question is the Volvo manual says to put in ATF type F and upon visiting
Redline MTL is manual transmission lube which is synthetic gear oil 75W-90.

Are you guys sure about this?

I think gear oil is much higher viscosity than ATF.
