Wiring question on KJet 200

OK, have got a brief question. Where do those wires that come off the pos and neg terminals of the coil come from/go? From memory, I believe they are brown and one red and white striped. They go up under the intake, they seem to come out at the large wiring harness near the firewall. I'm going to investigate those wires soon. I believe I have some failing insulation on one or both. Can I just find the two ends and splice a new line in, or do they hook into crazy things like warm up regulator, frequency valves and other mystical injection(torture?) devices? Haven't even read the schematics yet, but I like to put my question before the volvo gurus so that I'll at least get some moral support. Usually the answer comes to me. I'll let you guys know what I find out. Thanks fellow brickers. Keep the faith, we've almost made it to car waxing weather. Hah.
