Wow! OBD2 really works. Scanners? S90-V90 1997

I am really enjoying learning how my new 97 V90 works. It is truly a joy to drive and luxuriate in. But the check engine light had been coming on. Sometimes it would reset after so many trips but then it got worse and I started to notice a slight miss upon taking off fast. So I went to Autozone and had them pull the code (they do it for free). It was PO303 misfire on #3. Pulled the plugs and sure enough #3 spark plug was badly worn down compared to the others which were also pretty bad. Replaced em all with Bosche 3 prong platinum and now no miss, no misfire, no check engine light. I am sold on OBD2.

They also pulled a code PO705 malfunction in circuit for transmission range sensor. This explains why I sometimes must jiggle the shifter to start. Guess I need the dreaded PNP switch soon. May wire up a temporary bypass swith to the starter till I can change the PNP.

Still have a few more items to deal with to bring it up to scratch: Professional detailing inside and out this week
Switch oil to Mobil 1 and Mann filter
Flush tranny and change over to Mobil synthetic
Brakes, rotors and pads all around this weekend including a complete bleed.
Replace a few bulbs around the dash and 1 inside the radio

I am now looking at code scanners. Want one that will read and graph the sensors in real time while actually test driving as well as read all the codes including tranny codes. I understand there is notebook software and wire adapters to the serial port that do this very well. Anyone have experience with this or recommendations?
