Trouble getting door panel to fit 700 1986

I had my car door panel off for a while while I was putting in a door lock actuator on the driver's side. In the time it took to get necessary parts and to figure out how to wire the alarm, the wires drooped from their original position. I think that is part of the reason I'm having trouble getting the door panel to fit nicely. It seems like it bulges just below the cup for the door open handle. When I put the second part of the cup and the window switch back on once I have the door panel on, will it hold together correctly? Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the bulge? What other information can you give me regarding things like how many times it should 'snap' when I put the panel on (so far I've gotten one from the right side by the speaker hole)? A 'snap' sound would indicate a proper fit.

I'm always having problems with these little interior parts...
Much appreciation for any help,
Nathan
