steering 1800 1973

I have two very quick questions that hopefully will not demand too lengthy of an answer for you helpful Volvo experts. Both of the questions center the subject of the steering in my 73 1800ES. First, how do I adjust my steering wheel so that it can be straight when I am driving in that manner? Whenever I drive straight and forward my steering wheel is eschewed to the right. Second, it feels like there is a notch in the steering. When I turn the wheel right about a 16th of a turn the first “notch” appears. Another 16h of a turn there appears to be another “notch.” It is not too difficult to turn past these “notches”, but they do seem to be getting worse. I have not found a similar problem when turning left, but these “notches” only become apparent at 50 mph, a speed which would be very difficult to maintain with the steering wheel fully turned over. How can I remedy both of these problems?
