200/700 M46 compatibility? 700

I posted this over on the 200 board also. At a salvage yard I found a 245t with a manual trans. I didn't have a lot of time to check over the car but would like to know if it would be an M46 and when was the change from the iron case to the alloy? If it will work in my car I'll pull it for a spare.

Also, was the LSD standard or optional in the 245t? Again, I didn't check under the car but am going back Monday if possible.
