Tell the owner you will not charge him to take it off his hands, plus you'll throw in $25 so he can treat his wife to McDonald's.

Question: how many people on Earth are willing to pay good money for a 15 year old car with a blown engine (and God knows what else doesn't work) that allegedly had 300k miles on it (if the speedo works)?

Answer: Very few, and the owner knows it. He has the insurance payment to consider, the tags, etc...if he hollers, let him go.
