Fuse #8 problem 200 1983

I just touched the wire that I removed from the fuseblock to another fuse. I didn't say I *connected* it.
I just wanted to test and see if the circuit functioned at all, to see if there was an *obvious* problem that could be diagnosed without removing half of the interior (i.e. is it obviously the door switch).
Yes, I park the car outside, and since it's not running yet because I haven't put the new turbo on, the battery stays disconnected unless I'm looking for the problem with fuse #8.
As I stated in my original post:
"When I **touched** the contact to a higher-amp fuse, it seemed to work just fine. (i.e. dimmer functioned properly, light worked just like it's supposed to, etc)"
Right now, that wire's hanging harmlessly out of the way, and the 8amp fuse that's supposed to be in there is still there. I was just asking if anyone knew something relatively simple to check without all the removing pieces. The car is, after all, 20 years old.
