highest MPH! 200 1979

Well it's nice to know that I wasn't the only looney to have pulled such in a '79. :)

I also have done 110mph in my '79 245DL, after it got a AW71L tranny swap. But I did have a hill to help me ... it was geared to low to have pulled that off on its own power. When the lockup torque converter kicks in, 2k on the engine was 60mph already.

That was a few years ago ... I don't dare try that nowadays. 100mph+ is an automatic $1000+ fine these days.
