F P R removal from 84 240

I may need to clearify my situtation/ I have removed the bolt which secures the fpr assy. to the intake mainfold, the 17 mm compression(hyd) nut has been totally unfastned from its point as well and the fuel return line removed. The unit wants to hold on to its dissconnect point on the fuel rail. There is no other nut or bolt holding it onto anything. Could there be a extremmelly tight o ring or ferrule holding things together? It seems to be that this FPR should just pull off the fuel rail at this point. I do not want to damage my rail or fpr by jerking it about. This is a 1984 244 gle non turbo normally aspirated gas engine with only 190,000 .
The reason I am swapping it out is cause I am getting terrible fuel mileage on this car and have allready swapped out the amm/points/plugs/coil/wires/rotor/air filter. I typically get 25-28 mpg and now am getting 12-15. I have always used hi-test fuel in her.She also does not like this cold winter starts. End of my story. Mike
