Spark Plug Threads, Stripped 900

95 944Ti, 99k new purchase in various states of disassembly

Upon removing #3 plug there was a most awful feel and "sound" of thread stripping. I have changed a few plugs and never experienced this. It was tight until it cleared the last thread. Little doubt it's stripped. I removed number 2. It was OK but a little too tight and quit there. #2 just had more grime than normal on the threads. I am going to buy a thread chaser and try to clean up #3 and reinstall before I think about taking it in for a repair. Reassemble the other stuff and do a warm engine plug removal per the FAQ, if I can get #3 back in.

Any chance on a cheap thread repair with an Auto Zone or Sears thread chaser? I dont think I can make it any worse.

I am going with new Bosch Platinum, torque: 18 Ft-Lbs -40% = 11 Ft-Lbs with nickel based antiseize, 0.028"-0.032 gap. Does any one have a part no?
