One more reason why I like the grand old 240's we drive. 200 1988

This afternoon, after a lunch after church, wife sez "Honey, that grinding noise I heard on Friday is worse." !! Oops.

We trade cars, she keeps my 1986 240 at church, I take her 1988 244 home. En route, did the drive-close-beside-a-solid-wall test. You know, drive 2 feet from wall, hit brakes and listen. Rear brakes fo sho. (Good test for U-joints, too.)

Home by 3:30. Gathered tools and supplies and parts, (it's been a while) and began the brake job. Diagnosis correct. Finished and cleaned up in under 1-1/2 hours, and I'm slow. Easy job. Even included torqueing wheel lug nuts and using anti-sieze thereon.

Muchas gracias! to the inventor of throw-away vinyl gloves.

Dang these 240's are easy to work on. Especially in balmy weather under the shade tree!

Regards to all,

Bob
