Fuse #8 problem 200 1983

Here is my idea.
The short is intermittent. As you drivethe wire moves and eventually short to ground or something with low resistance.
When you tried it from the other fuse position you were just lucky, or maybe thecar needs to be jostled a bit.
I hope you have checked a wiring diagram and are sure it is the overhead light assy.
It seems doubtful the wires inthe pillar would fray, so I'd take the assy out of the headliner and check it carefully.
Also as a confirmation I would disconnect the wires to the overhead light, first in theheadliner, then at the fuse box and see if the probelem goes away. You can isolate the problem,just to be sure the problem is in the wiring or assy...
