Fuel starvation 200

do you have enough fuel pressure coming from the fuel pumps? I have a 1980 wagon with the mechanincal fuel pump and it just about drove me crazy. Check the fuel pressure comeing out of the fuel filter. Clamp a hose on it and crank the engine over, it should spray a nice thick stream into a bucket or gas can. I had to replace a small piece of hose inside the fuel tank that goes between the in tank fuel pump and the tube that goes from the tank access plate. The car would not run below about a quarter to a half tank of gas. I had low fuel pressure, it was intermittently squirting out the fuel filter when I put the hose in a bucket. I also removed the cold engine injector and it had an erratic spray pattern while cranking the cold engine. I took the plate off the tank replaced the small hose with a new hose and two clamps and it works great.
