I just luv emergency fixes 200

Had a little suprise this weekend.

Changed the oil in the 240 Friday afternoon. Saturday morning ran over to Autozone for sparkplugs. Opened the hood and found oil spewn over the cam cover. The oil cap gasket had split when I finished changing oil @^%#^$^&!

Tried in vain to find a gasket or new cap on a weekend. Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, NAPA.....three strikes. Considered going to Home Depot for a similar sized gasket in the plumbing dept.

Then an idea. Went to the basement and grabbed a spare toilet flapper from the tool room. Used a utility knife to cut the center bulb from the flapper and placed it on the filler cap. Perfect seal!!

I'll get a proper seal from FCP Groten but at least I don't have oil dribbling onto the exhaust manifold.

mormit
