Brake Failure 200 1986

I had brake failure on my 86 244 today. It started when the "brake failure"light came on when I stopped at a traffic light. The brakes seemed to be OK, but I was going to pull over. I managed to get to the right lane and at the next light I got the same light, but the brakes still felt OK. As I pulled through the light and then slowed to turn in to a strip mall I got the light again, this time with mushy brakes.

When I looked under the hood, nearly all the brake fluid was gone. It took almost a whole bottle of brake fluid to fill it back up. The brakes seemed OK again as I drove the car home and swapped it for the 95 965.

I can see no sign of fluid leakage anywhere. I am going to put the car on stands in the next couple of days to see if I can see anything. A friend suggested that the fluid could have leaked into the booster. This person knows cars inside out, so I figure it must be possible.

Does anyone know of an esy way to check for leakage of this type?
