excessive brake pedal travel 900 1991

Even though I've found ABS ones to be a bit "softer", that does seem a bit on the low side.

Holding the brake pedal down, Does it continue sinking? If so, chances are greater that it's the master cylinder seals going south.

If not, then it's either that air got into the system, or that the brake lines are swelling up. A full system bleeding will rid of the air, and iPd stainless steel brake lines will cure the latter.
