Oil on Engine 200

My 1990 240 (133,000 miles) has oil down the back of the engine. When I got the car in 1993 a mechanic told me it has a leaking rear main seal. The leak is still slow, but I am sick of the oil mess. I replaced the value cover gasket with no difference. Does this sound like a rear main seal?

Second item, I noticed that there is a very light amount of oil all along the mating surface between the head and block on the intake side of the engine. also I noticed that my coolant was down, and a very quick inspection did not show a coolant leak. Is my head gasket on its way out or what? Note that the flame guard has been changed faithfully, and I had the usual oil in hoses to the throtle body.
