Alternator Interchangeability 200

Hi Guys,

My local boneyard has recently had a number of really GOOD looking alternators in late 240's and some 740's. Most look like they were replaced shortly before the cars were scrapped. Which of these (particularly from the 740's) can be put into a 240 (1980 B-21F; 1987 B-230F) ? Also, are they a a direct fit mechanically ? Any mods needed for the electrical hookups ? I assume some of the alternators are a higher capacity/amperage. Thanks.
